As you can see...he's decided that he likes it here. So far he's only had 1 potty accident, which is awesome. I'm starting to suspect that he has been housetrained, but who knows. I'm letting him into the yard every hour or two during the day to help. He made it all night though without a problem from 10pm-6am.
He seems to have a passion for blankets, so we gave him one of his own.
Jules and Percy
Xander and Percy
Leia and Percy
Bella and Percy. He's licking everyone in these pictures because they were taken during the first hour after he got here. He's backed off some on the licking now, lol.

We added a new member to our family today! We named him Percy (with the same middle and last names as the other 2 men in our household). He was saved from a local kill shelter by a rescue group. He is a little over 1 year old (estimated by vet), 12 pounds and fully grown. He loves kids and seems to be really well behaved so far. He climbed up in my lap while we were driving home and laid his head down on my basically I'm already in love with him. He seems to have made himself quite comfortable here in a matter of half a day.

Field Trip

I volunteered to chaperone Julianne's trip to the Children's Museum this year. It is an awesome museum. We'll definitely have to go back because we only saw a small portion of the exhibits.
They built makeshift tools and tried to free objects from this maze.
There was a fun Cyberchase exhibit that they all really seemed to enjoy. In this area I managed to bump a defibrillator case open with my backpack and set off a really loud alarm...not awesome.
Juli kicked the rock wall's butt several times, and ran through an obstacle course.
We visited a large replica city called Kidtropolis. We were assigned the police/fire/medical building and the restaurant. I have never seen anything this extravagant as far as a city area in a children's museum. We visited a couple of other areas, but I know we missed some awesome ones like the big water structure that they have outside for example.

Anyway, if you live in the Houston area and haven't been to the newly expanded Children's Museum...go. We'll definitely be back.

Xander's Birthday Part 2

I have been on an extended hiatus for our cruise coupled with tons of stuff for the kids, plus packing, etc. I'm going to try and catch this up for the next couple of days.

So, for Xander's birthday we just had a little family party this year. We went to Chuck E Cheese, and then did cake and presents back at our house. His room is basically exploding with toys at this point (being a 4th child) and we really need to get rid of some. I haven't been successful on that front yet. Many new and LARGE items came in for his birthday though. It's getting crazy in there.

We got him a Thomas tent, plasma car, bike helmet and horn, baseball glove and ball. My parents brought him a talking grill, latch board, counting cookie jar, and bubble lawnmower.

This picture cracks me up. It reminds me of talking baby commercials.

It boggles the mind.

I know it's lame to post about how busy you are as an excuse for not blogging...but seriously...I'm not even joking. The busy level is mind boggling right now. I need to get Xander's birthday photos up, and I don't even have the 10 minutes to spare to load them up and post them right now. In a nutshell this week alone (not to even mention last week) contains 3 nights of scoring essays 7-11pm, misc additional work to squeeze in (because I'm an idiot who won't just give up working because I have the best work at home mommy job I could imagine...unless they pay people for doing nothing at all...that would be even better I suppose), a 2 year check up for Xander, preschool for Leia, a last minute trip to the temple with my best girlfriend (who is totally about to move away and ditch me like a hot potato), feeding missionaries, 1st grade play, violin and piano lessons, a birthday party, a primary activity, and packing, cleaning, and stocking the house to get ready for our trip. I'm going to have to give up sleep at some point just to get the minimum essential things done...sigh. Long story...long...I'm not dead, just chronically busy. I'll be back.

Today you turned 2 years old. I can't believe there was ever a time that you were not in our family. You are such a sweet guy and we all love you so much. I told you last night that when you woke up today you would be 2 years old. You smiled and waved and blew kisses at me while daddy carried you to bed. I think the significance of the event was lost on you. After your sisters were all off to school today we stopped for some birthday balloons and a haircut. We made sure to have them blow up manly balloons for you, as the ones they had prepared were all pink butterflies and princesses. I know you have enough princesses in your life already. You were not in the mood for a haircut this morning. You made a very serious face and told the lady "no-no-no-no" about a hundred times. I had to hold you on my lap. You buried your face in my shirt while your wispy hairs floated up all around us. I wished I could freeze you in time forever. I know that is not how it works though, and I do look forward to seeing you grow up into the amazing man that I know you will be.

General Conference Download

I think it was Jessica who asked about downloading LDS General Conference, but I thought I would post the link in case anyone else was wondering where to access it:

Happy Listening! I'm loading mine up right now.

You Might Live In Texas

If you are driving your daughter to preschool down a busy suburban highway and see emergency vehicles loading a giant dead feral hog into their truck bed, and towing away a smashed up might live in Texas.

I've gotten behind...a summary

I've been having photo software issues. I've tried to post several times, but without photos to post...I often can't think of anything worth writing about. It's been a busy week. The kids had 3 birthday parties to go to last week. It was too busy for my taste. Daniel had his tonsils removed on Thursday. We had to be at the hospital at 6am. Fortunately for us, my blessed mother volunteered to come over here at 5:30am to take care of the kids so that I could take him in. His surgery only took 20 minutes, but there were several hours of pre-op and post-op we left the hospital around 10am. I was about to take a picture of him in his hat and surgical gown with my cell phone, but I was interrupted by the Dr's the internet missed out on that photo.

We went strawberry picking on Friday morning, and it was crazy busy. We came home with about 12 pounds of strawberries. I made a strawberry pie (and ate too much of it), froze most of them, and we've been eating the remaining fresh ones non-stop since then. Daniel spent Friday afternoon doing a major refurb on our grill. It was in bad shape.
On Saturday I finally got my hands on a cheap used treadmill. So exciting. I've been looking for about 6 months. I plan to use this one until it kicks the bucket...then I'll splurge on a new one.

Because of Daniel's surgery, I didn't get the stuff for Easter baskets and eggs until Saturday. I also didn't even consider the fact that my son is turning 2 years old this week until yesterday. Not cool. I ended up having to place an Amazon order with expedited shipping just to get him some presents here on time.

We spent Easter morning enjoying General Conference, and the afternoon celebrating with my parents. We need to load up the sessions onto our Zunes to catch up on the sections that we missed. I very much enjoyed the parts that I did catch.
