Thomas the Tank Engine

Xander is crazy for 2 things, and 2 things only....Thomas the Tank Engine and Scooby Doo. He has a small collection of Thomas & generic engines and tracks. I resigned myself to buying him a collection over time since they are super pricey for little wood engines and tracks. I thought I would put an ad up on our neighborhood Google group first to see if anyone was looking to sell their collection. Well, I hit the jackpot! I was able to buy a collection that an acquaintance of ours had been building for 5 years. She estimated it to be about $1000 worth of Thomas, which looks about right to me. I offered to buy half of it because really it is way too much stuff, but she insisted that I just take all of it. So for a steal ($200) we are the new owners of this enormous collection. Yay! I've managed to keep it hidden from him for the past few days. I'm going to break it up into 2 or 3 chunks and give it to him over the next few holidays.
I took a quick inventory of it when I took the pictures and came up with:
-73 trains
-366 pieces of track, bridges, tunnels, & miscellany
-65 trees, people, & more miscellany
-Emergency Room
-Engine Wash
-Postal Station
-3 cranes
-2 fuel pumps
-loading zone
-paint & oil station
-cargo ship

Let me know when you want the train table. We're not using it.

Ohhh I'm jealous! Great find. The girls have had tracks and trains for years but it's definitely the boy that likes to play with them. I never thought of looking for them used... hmmm.

Are you still blogging? I tried to read your blog a few months ago and I think it went private or something because I couldn't access it. :) Good to see you.
